CALL TO ACTION - PTSD Workers Comp Bill Committee Vote Tuesday Afternoon
Updated On: Mar 19, 2017

CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS TODAY TO URGE THEM TO SUPPORT COLORADO’S FIRST RESPONDERS.

Legislators on the Colorado State House Public Health Care and Human Services Committee are considering a bill on Tuesday, March 21st that would clarify that members of law enforcement and other first responders are eligible to file a workers’ compensation claim if they sustain post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of their job.

House Bill 17-1229, Workers’ Compensation for Mental Impairment, helps to protect those who protect their communities each day.  For more background and information about the bill, please see the attached fact sheet.  Please call the Public Health Care Committee members today to urge them to support this important bill.

If there is no answer, please leave a voicemail.  If you do reach out to legislators, please let us know.  If you need to check who your legislators are, you can find out here.  It is perfectly fine to call legislators on this list who are not your own, but if you are a constituent of the legislator you are calling then make sure they know that.  Please call these legislators by the end of the day on Monday, March 20th.

Sample message:

  1. Introduce yourself as a member or supporter of law enforcement.
  2. Explain the importance of mental health support to law enforcement.
  3. Ask them to support HB1229, Workers’ Compensation For Mental Impairment.
  4. Leave your phone number for follow-up questions.
