Colorado FOP is very pleased to announce that Frank Gale, current National FOP 2nd Vice-President will seek another term on the National FOP Executive Board as 2nd Vice-President. Frank was the Colorado State FOP President for 8 years. Frank has also served in the elected offices of National Sergeant-at-Arms, National Trustee, Colorado State Vice President, Denver Lodge 27 President, and Denver Lodge 27 Vice President.
Frank has been a stalwart champion of protecting and improving both our profession and the rights of law enforcement officers across this country. Frank has spent his entire career fighting for us and our profession. He is a proven leader who has consistently placed the needs of the membership above all. When faced with adversity, he has never wavered in his commitment to this profession and the law enforcement labor movement. He is respected nationally for his work and commitment on behalf of us all. We are both proud and fortunate to have him as a member of the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police and as a highly respected member of the National FOP Executive Board.
In his capacity as an FOP leader, Frank was one of a handful of people responsible for attaining collective bargaining rights for Denver County Deputy Sheriffs in 1994, and he still serves on the Negotiations Team for Denver Deputies and is the Negotiations Spokesman. In 2008 Frank created the Colorado FOP Labor Council which provides full labor services to lodges who join. The Labor Council has grown in membership to represent nearly 2/3rds of the total State FOP membership in its ranks. Frank's invaluable and vast knowledge of law enforcement labor issues, collective bargaining, arbitration, and labor law has been a tremendous asset for our members both here in Colorado and across this nation. Very few can match his expertise in this most important area.
While serving as National Trustee, Frank also served on the National Grievance Committee for five years, and was the Colorado Chairman of the Expansion, Labor Services, Fundraising, Building, and Education Services Committees. While serving as the Colorado State President Frank was the Chairman of both the Colorado FOP Labor Council and Colorado Legal Defense Fund. He considers one of his most significant achievements to be the addition of almost double the membership of the Colorado FOP during his tenure as National Trustee, as well as the addition of two new FOP Bargaining Units.
Since being elected to the National Executive Board in September 2004, Frank has made his main focus the preservation, advancement, expansion, and improvement of the FOP labor-related programs and services offered by the National FOP. He has been instrumental in assisting local and state lodges fight off attacks from competing organizations, or in preserving the FOP as a Bargaining Agent in many departments.
He remains active in his local lodge and is still very much involved in representing and advocating for members in Grievances, Internal Affairs Interviews, Critical Incidents, and Labor Management Disputes. Recently Frank was appointed by the Colorado State FOP President to represent the line officer perspective and position in community relations and policing meetings and forums.
Frank Gale is a recipient of the Colorado FOP Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. Awards and decorations that have been bestowed upon Frank during his law enforcement career include: the Denver Sheriff Department Medal of Valor, two Denver Sheriff Department Lifesaving Medals, Sheriff Medal of Merit, numerous Department Commendations from the Denver Sheriff Department as well as commendations and acknowledgements from various other agencies and community organizations.
